How to check if a website is legitimate

I built this tool after one too many moments of hovering over a “Buy now” button on a store I’d never heard of, wondering if I was about to hand my card details to a scam. The checks that answer that question — domain age, SSL, who owns the site, whether it’s on a known-threat list — are all public, but nobody has time to run them by hand before every purchase.

So I put them in one place. Every signal this tool reports is something I’d check myself, drawn from the same public data sources security researchers use. It’s deliberately transparent: you can read exactly how it works, and we don’t store anything about you.

It won’t catch everything — no automated check can — but it turns a vague gut feeling into a few concrete facts, in seconds, for free.
